Summer Suds 2021
Do you remember when we were kids and the last day of school meant we could stay up as late as we wanted? And the next morning, waking up lazily in bed, realizing it’s the first day of summer, the beginning of what seemed like an endless horizon of freedom, adventure, and living outside? My goodness, the sheer joy!
That sense of freedom, time standing still, nothing but sunshine and seashells, being firmly planted in the here and now – that is the very essence of summer. Moments where deadlines and expectations disappear in a shimmer of bright sunshine and you find yourself just basking in the warmth of this place, right here, right now. As we navigate our way into a new somewhat normal life again, Mother Nature has gifted us with summer’s easy going, fun-loving, playfulness, making this a road trip we’ll never forget. Pack up the camper van, this summer is just getting started.
Cool, refreshing, and light - that’s what we’re all craving on a hot summer day. To make your summer splashing tingly and chill, we whipped up a short menu of exactly that. Most of this year’s seasonal soaps are personal requests - scents from a previous year that were such faves, you can’t live without them. These are only available for the next few months and are made in limited production. ($5.00 each)
BEACH HOUSE – Many moons ago I introduced this little number which over the years has become the most beloved soap of summer. It even inspired an aromatic spray, which is now a regular on the menu. Having taken a couple of years off, it’s clear as day that everybody wants this back in their shower. A dreamy blend of salty ocean air, pretty lavender, and a sprig of mint and rosemary - this scent is clean and light as a breeze. With a Zen-like calm, its soothing marine fragrance and beautiful translucent sea glass color transports you directly to the spa. My imaginary seaside cottage has a little pile of these in every room.
DEW DROP – (Back by request – was a Spring 2020 scent) This is a water scent. And I know what you’re thinking - that water doesn’t actually smell like anything. But one sniff of Dew Drop and you will realize that this is *exactly* what water smells like. Fresh and pure: dew-drenched delicate stems and tender leaves on a cool spring morning. Spring rain mixed with aloe vera under a spa shower. Soft, light, lovely, It’s just clean, clean, wet and clean.
GREEN TEA & CUCUMBER – This experiment batch I added to last month’s sale immediately became a favorite. It’s quintessentially green - what you imagine the color green smells like. Crisp, fresh cucumber slices blended with grassy green tea notes gives this a refreshing yet calming, very natural scent.
COTTON BLOSSOM – Airy, crisp linen softened with beautiful blossoms – this one is delicate and pretty. Notes of cotton laundry fresh from the dryer, sun-dried linen, orchid flowers and lilies blend gently for a sweet and romantic take on a traditional clean fragrance.
SWEDISH DISH CLOTHS – NEW SUMMER DESIGNS
We’ve been raving about these super hero eco-friendly cleaning cloths for a long time. These things clean literally everything better, plus they hold 7x their weight in water for cleaning spills, dry in a jiffy, can be washed and used over and over for zero waste, and have become an essential item in our home. I can’t live without them now.
I’ve added 4 new designs to my shop in colorful summer patterns: pink and blue flowers, green trees, yellow sunflowers, and owls. Who doesn’t love owls? I’ve got one that quietly hoots at night outside my bedroom, lulling me to sleep, so I couldn’t resist an owl design.
If you’re like me, right about now is the perfect time to add a fresh cutie to the pile or spiff up the kitchen décor. And ff you’re new to the Swedish Dish Cloth party, click HERE for more about what these are how to use them
MOTHER’S DAY GIFTS & CARE PACKAGES
If there’s one thing we learned this past year, it’s that nurturing ourselves and taking care of each other is essential. Moms are super heroes at this, even if we’re no longer kids, or already have kids of our own. How about giving her a happy little gift of pretty smelling soaps and treats that she can pamper herself with? It’s way better than brunch, though nobody said you can’t do both. We’ve got all shapes and sizes of totes, care packages, ribbon tied boxes, the works.
This is the time for grads, Dads, birthdays, and lots more occasions for sending a small, thoughtful, handmade gift. Maybe a Soap of the Month Sudscription with 2 fancy soaps in the mail at the start of each month? You know what I say about the gift of soap. You’re not hinting,” ugh, you smell bad.” Gifting good soap means “you're special and you're worth it.” “You enjoy the finer things in life on a daily basis”. “I love you and want to pamper you.” All good stuff.
Summertime and the living is easy peasy. Swimsuits all day. Flip flops and ice pops. Tunes blasting and open road. Let’s dive into this! Last one in is a rotten egg!!
